A Vacation in The Caribbean- Is It Worth The Hype?

Have you ever thought, why people flock to the Caribbean? We all have a very specific visual which blinks with the word Caribbean in our minds. A puffy shirt from Johnny Depp. Turquoise blue waters. Beaches of white sand. Resorts where all call you "Mister" and ask if you would like a pineapple colada. Don't care if I do, why thank you?

But over and above the pristine beaches and luxury resorts, the Caribbean is a culture-rich and fascinating corner of our hemisphere, with every island surprisingly. Sure, it's not like heaven to posting on the beach.

Visit St. Lucia for its vast chalk beaches, volcanic peaks and high quality resorts. Tour of San Lucia. A walk through the Piton Mountains will allow you to start your day, soak up some midday sun along Reduit Beach and see the sun set over the Caribbean Sea. You'll also want to save time to visit the world's only drive-in volcano, Sulphur Springs. This Caribbean escape is particularly popular with couples due to the plethora of romantic luxury hotels in St. Lucia, most of which offer amazing vistas.

A wealth of various beaches – 365 to be exact – resides in Antigua. So you probably will never be disappointed whether you are interested in surfing and water sports at Galley Bay Beach or are looking for a more secluded romantic holiday in Half Moon Bay. Antigua has historic attractions, including the Nelson Dockyard and Betty's Hope, if you would like to learn more about the colonial past of the island. Moreover, Antigua is home to some of the Caribbean's best resorts.

Eleuthera, Pretty Harbor Island has long been the hiding place for the rich and famous. It is one of the oldest settlements in the Bahamas and the site of the First Bahamanian Parliament, known affectionately by local residents as the Briland.

In the 1700s, the English Loyalists settled here and in Dunemore Town, the only island settlement where golf carts control narrow streets their cute, pastel-hued cottages evoke a past era. To accommodate here, book one of the Beach View Vacation Rentals in Eleuthera at an affordable price.

St. George's Cay is the site of the Spanish Wells, off Eleuthera's northern tip. During the 17th century, during the transfer of their richness from the New World to the Old, the Spanish made this a safe haven. The residents – the few surnames that go back generations – live in clapboard houses in a New England fishing village at the East end of the island. Eleutheran Adventurers' descendants continue to sail these waters and bring fish and lobster to their shores. Regarding accommodation, book one of the 1-Bedroom Apartment in Spanish Wells. On to the patio and sit in one of the Muskoka chairs on the front of the house and watch the water. It has an odd hypnotising effect and can go on for hours before you know it. The time is particularly good for a cup of coffee or tea in the morning or for a cocktail later in the day. I like to count the various blue shades I see in the water and clouds.
